IDI hosts online Design review meetings, allowing stakeholders to participate from their desks, eliminating costly travel expenses. This technology has allowed IDI to work with clients throughout North America and as far away as South Africa.
IDI has complete in house prototype capabilities. Our large staff of Prototype Specialists build full size working prototype containers. The design staff works closely with the prototype department as the prototype is being built. With design and prototype under the same roof, the design can be modified along the way and more than one design option can be tried. This continuous interaction between design and prototype has proven to be the most important stage of the process.
IDI’s Prototype Specialists have a vast knowledge in Manufacturing Processes and assist in ensuring the container is Designed For Manufacturing.
IDI’s manufacturing facility has equipment for complete metal fabrication including shearing plate up to 10′ long, production punching of holes and slots, press brakes for forming steel, MIG and TIG welding plus plasma burning.
IDI also has a complete machining center with (1) two-axis and (1) three-axis Chevalier CNC Mills. Prototype dunnage components can be CNC milled from the 3D solid model our design staff has developed. Intricate, high tolerance parts can be machined for any application. IDI uses third-party sources for contracted 3D Printing of plastic dunnage systems which can save time in the design and prototyping process.
